In 1922 while stationed in India, the 3rd and 6th Dragoon Guards were amalgamated to form the 3rd/6th Dragoon Guards. After its return to England the new regiment was renamed the 3rd Carabiniers (Prince of Wales's Dragoon Guards) at Tidworth in 1928.
