Op CABRIT 4 & 5 ENHANCED FORWARD PRESENCE (EFP)

The 2016 NATO Summit in Warsaw set the conditions for the establishment of an enhanced Forward Presence (eFP) in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland to strengthen Euro-Atlantic security.

A Light Cavalry Squadron, of approximately 150 personnel, deployed to Poland, and is under the command of 2 US Cavalry Regiment.

Additional units include elements from Royal Military Police, Intelligence Corps, Royal Signals and Royal Electrical Mechanical Engineers. Enhanced Forward Presence is just one aspect of a wide range of UK support to NATO.

Op TOSCA 27 UNITED NATIONS FORCE

British soldiers also serve with United Nations peacekeeping Forces in Cyprus (UNFICYP). There is no operational link between British soldiers serving in the Sovereign Base Areas (SBAs) and the British contingent of the United Nations Force in Cyprus.

These soldiers serve on Operation TOSCA, an unaccompanied six month UN tour of duty and are responsible for maintaining the integrity of the Buffer Zone that runs between the Greek and Turkish Cypriots.

The Command includes the capital Nicosia and soldiers wear UN (blue) berets.
